I was in San Jose, California last week with a bunch of our business associates for a weekend with our CEO’s. Outside of our business talks, we were able to do Food Trips at the numerous Filipino Food Hot Spots in the Bay area that we did not have in Chicago. One of the places we visited was Gerry’s Grill located at 31005 Courthouse Dr., Union City, CA 94587.
They have an extensive menu listing more than 60 choices. If only we could order one of each… but there were only 8 of us, maybe next time we will have more Food Trippers. below are some more pictures for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
For Starters we had the Green Mango Salad: Green Mango, Chicharon, Diced Tomatoes, chopped onions and shrimp paste. This is a must have when you go there! This is how it looks when they serve it:

And this is how it looks when you mix it all up… mmmmmmmmm….

My favorite dish that night (or any night) was the Sizzling Sisig. Don’t ask what it is, all you need to know is that it is REALLY Good!
Of course you can’t have Sisig or any other Filipino Dish without Rice So I took a picture of that too.
We also had the Pancit Bihon and the Pork Sinigang Soup, as you can see we ate Family Style.

We ordered 4 other dishes: a Grilled Chicken Dish, Pinakbet, Binagoongang Baboy and an extra helping of the Sinigang.
For dessert, the 8 of us shared 3 orders of Halo Halo: Mixed sweetened tropical fruit served topped with ice cream and caramel custard. In English Halo-Halo litereally translated is ”Mix-Mix”. Luckily, whoever I was sharing with only wanted a taste, so I had whatever was left. =)
Any-hoo, betwee nthe 8 of us the bill came up to only $17 each. That includes the Tax and a 15% Tip was automatically added. For 8 main dishes, 12 orders of rice, 3 desserts plus drinks, this meal was a steal for under $20.
If you are in the Bay Area I suggest you visit Gerry’s Grill located at 31005 Courthouse Dr., Union City, CA 94587. If you have a bunch of people with you you can call ahead of time to reserve (510) 441-9900. Gerry’s Grill also hosts lunch specials and a Full Bar. For Pacquiao’s next fight against whoever - watch it at Gerry’s Grill and make a night out of it since the fight will probably last less than 9 rounds anyway!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures! Join us next time!
