What makes you happy? Think about it for real – What makes you happy?
We all have great moments in our lives that puts a smile on our face. But I can only really think of a few moments in my life that really made me HAPPY. =) The kind of feeling where warm blood rushes through your veins and you get the cold chills up your back, then you take a deep breath and then you smile. OH YeeeeeaaaaaH – “that feeling!”
I’m gonna share My Top 3 Ultimate Moments of Happiness. All three are of the same importance to me, they are just in different parts of my time line. (*This list does not include any ‘happy endings’)
My Top 3 Ultimate Moments of Happiness
#1 Fruits of My Labor
Back in 1995 in the Philippines,I was fifteen years old, and I competed in the Palarong Pambansa (loosely translated: Sports competition of the country) during the peak of my swimming life. I won two gold medals swimming with our swimming relay teams. It was a great experience since I did not expect to be able to compete at that level. All I knew was that I trained hard and reaped what I sowed. – But no, that was not the happy moment, read on…
Consequently I was reimbursed with a few thousand bucks for winning. At that time, my mom was surviving from breast cancer and even though my parents catering/restaurant business was doing ok, we endured financial hardship because of the lack of subsidized health care in the Philippines. On the day I got back home from four days of competition I was congratulated at home, I was so proud. =)
I did not tell my parents of my monetary gains. I knew my parents were hurting financially, I was and still is very grateful for their sacrifices to give me the life I had. To return the favor I thought it would be cool to give them my winnings, without them knowing. So I waited for my parents to fall asleep before I folded my money to look like my mom’s cash then I put it in her purse.
I’m telling you, it felt sooo damn good to be able to give back to my parents. I understand that some people would think it was weird of me to “hide” what I did from my parents, but really its not. I believed that as long as I knew I was able to accomplish something, then no else would really need to know about it. I think its called being humble. In a way I did not want it to seem like I was being arrogant because I had some money. I know it’s a different point of view but remember – I was only fifteen.
The next day when they found out they were asking each other where it came from. I could hear them and they were confused but happy. They asked me if I knew anything about it, so I confessed. After I told my mom everything, she gave me a big hug. That was when I got “that feeling”. I knew I was doing something good and I didn’t need the recognition for it. My mom wanted to give me the money back but I refused. And that my friend is one of my happiest-proudest memories.

Thank you Lisa! I don’t think I will ever forget that feeling.
Light skinned people are always found more attractive.
I’m writing an article about cancer, which is what I was originally looking into when I saw your article. There are so many health issues out there that people are dealing with, I was not aware! This is excellent information, thank you very much.
